Hypothalamus is the master of the master gland. It controls a number of centers that control body temperature urge for eating and drinking. It also contains several groups of neurosecretory cells that secrete hormones called hypothalamic hormones. Along with the limbic system, the hypothalamus is also involved in the regulation of sexual behavior expression of emotional reaction and motivation. It is related to another gland called hypophysis or pituitary gland. It forms basically the neurohypophysis portion of the pituitary.
