In the given circuit, the breakdown voltage of the Zener diode is 3.0 V. What is the value of Iz ?

  2. 5.5 mA

Solution

Given that, Vz=3 V

Let potential at B=0 V
Potential at EVE=10 V

Now, VC=VA=3 V and,

Iz+I1=I   ...1

The current through 1  resistor is given by

I=10-31000 A=71000 A

From the diagram, it follows that

I1=32000 A

Therefore, from equation (1), it follows that

Iz=7-1.51000 A=5.5 mA
