In the given circuit the AC source has ω=100 rad s-1. Considering the inductor and capacitor to be ideal, what will be the current I flowing through the circuit?

  1. 5.9 A
  2. 6 A
  3. 0.94 A
  4. 3.16 A

Solution

ZC=1ωC2+R2

=1100×100×10-62+1002

=1002+1002

=1002 Ω

ZL=(ωL)2+R2=(100×0.5)2+502=502 Ω

iL=200ZL=200502=42=22 A

iC=200ZC=2001002=2 A

cosϕ1=1001002=12, ϕ1=45°

cosϕ2=50502=12, ϕ2=45°

I=IC2+IL2;  I=8+2;  I=10=3.16 A
