In the given circuit, if the potential difference between A and B is 80 V, then the equivalent capacitance between A and B, and the charge on 10 μF capacitor respectively, are

Solution

Simplifying the circuit as in the diagram, 

Capacitors 10 μF, 5 μF and 9 μF are in parallel therefore, net capacitance across the point C and D is, CCD=10+5+9=24 μF

Now, capacitors 12 μF, 24 μF and 8 μF are in series connection 

Equivalent capacitor 1Ceq=112+124+18=14

Ceq=4 μF

For the charge on the capacitor 10 μF, 

The net charge flowing in the circuit, Q=CVAB=4 μF×80 V=320 μC

Potential difference across CD is, VCD=QCCD=32024=403 V

Therefore, charge on the 10 μF capacitor is q=10 μF×VCD=10 μF×403 V=133 μC
