In the following circuit, the reading in the ammeter is

  2. 22.5 mA

Solution

Reading of ammeter shows the current in the circuit. Current is given by, $I=V / R$ I.(i) $\frac{V-V_{\text {diode }}}{R}$
For silicon diode, $\mathrm{V}_{\text {diode }}=0.7 \mathrm{~V}$ $\therefore \quad \mathrm{I}=\frac{5-0.7}{200}=\frac{4.3}{200}=21.5 \mathrm{~mA}$
