In the circuit diagram shown in figure given below, the current flowing through resistance 3 Ω is x3 A. The value of x is ________.

Solution

Let the current flowing through the circuit be I A in anti-clockwise direction.

The net resistance is R=4.5 Ω+2 Ω+1.5 Ω=8 Ω

Hence, I=VR=4 V8 Ω=0.5 A

The current flowing through the 3 Ω resistor is 

66+3×0.5 =13 A

So, x=1
