Solution

$T \propto \sqrt{l}$ or $f \propto 1 / \sqrt{l}$ If the length is increased by three times the original length, then the new length is four times the original length. $\frac{f_1}{f}=\sqrt{\frac{l}{4 l}}=\frac{1}{2}$ .
