In $P-V$ diagram shown in figure $A B C$ is a semicircle. The work done in the process $A B C$ is
  1. $4 \mathrm{~J}$
  2. $\frac{-\pi}{2} \mathrm{~J}$
  3. $\frac{\pi}{2} \mathrm{~J}$
  4. Zero

Solution

Net work done is positive and area between semicircle which is equal to $\frac{\pi}{2}(2-$ 1) $\times \frac{(3-1)}{2} \mathrm{Nm}=\frac{\pi}{2} \mathrm{~J}$ As the curve is going anti-clockwise, the work done is positive. .
