In case of a forced vibration, the resonance wave becomes very sharp when the:
- quality factor is small
- dampening force is small
- restoring force is small
- applied periodic force is small
Solution
Resonance describes the phenomenon of increased amplitude that occurs when the frequency of a periodically applied force is equal or close to a natural frequency of the system on which it acts.
At resonance, the damping force becomes small enough so that the resulting oscillations have large amplitude.
