In an organic compound phosphorus is estimated as
  1. $\mathrm{Mg}_3\left(\mathrm{PO}_4\right)_2$
  2. $\mathrm{P}_2 \mathrm{O}_5$
  3. $\mathrm{Mg}_2 \mathrm{P}_2 \mathrm{O}_7$
  4. $\mathrm{H}_3 \mathrm{PO}_4$

Solution

In organic compound, phosphorus can be estimate by precipitating it as $\mathrm{MgNH}_4 \mathrm{PO}_4$, by adding magnesia mixture. On ignition of precipitate, it yields $\mathrm{Mg}_2 \mathrm{P}_2 \mathrm{O}_7$.
