In an examination, there are 10 true-false type questions. Out of 10, a student can guess the answer of 4 questions correctly with probability 34 and the remaining 6 questions correctly with probability 14. If the probability that the student guesses the answers of exactly 8 questions correctly out of 10 is 27k410, then k is equal to

Solution

Given,

A=1,2,3,4:PA=34Correct answer

B=5,6,7,8,9,10;PB=14 Correct answer

Now total ways in which 8 Correct answer is given will be,

Case (i)  4,4:C44344·C46·144·342

Case (ii) 3,5:C34343·141·C56145·34

Case (iii) 2,6:C24342142·C66146

Total probability  =141034×15×32+4×33×6×3+6×32

=274102.7×15+72+2

Now comparing with 27k410

We get,K=479
