In a triangle A B C , a b = 2 + 3 and ∠ C = 60 ° . Then the measure of ∠ A is

In a triangle ABC,ab=2+3 and C=60°. Then the measure of A is
  1. 95°
  2. 65°
  3. 105°
  4. 115°

Solution

Given:

ab=2+3

C=60°

Also,

A+B+C=180°

A+B=120°     ...1

By sine formula

sinAa=sinBb

sinAsinB=ab

sinAsinB=2+3

Applying Componendo and Dividendo, we get

sinA+sinBsinA-sinB=3+33+1

2sinA+B2cosA-B22sinA-B2cosA+B2=3+33+1

sin60°cosA-B2sinA-B2cos60°=31+33+1

3cotA-B2=3

cotA-B2=1

A-B2=45°

A-B=90°    ...2

Solving 1 and 2, we get

A=105°, B=15°
