If z is a complex number such that z-iz-1 is purely imaginary, then the minimum value of |z-(3+3 i)| is :
  1. 32
  2. 22
  3. 22-1
  4. 62

Solution

z-iz-1 is purely imaginary.

argz-iz-1=π2+nπ;nI

Geometrically, the locus of z is the circle with end points of diameter is 1,0 & 0,1 and centre is 12,12.So the nearest point to 3,3 on the circle is A1,1.

Minimum distance is AP=OP-OA

=32+32-12+12

=32-2

=22
