Work done in stretching a wire is $\begin{aligned} & \mathrm{w}=\frac{1}{2} \mathrm{kx}^2=\frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{\mathrm{YA}}{1}\right) \mathrm{x}^2 \Rightarrow \mathrm{w} \propto \frac{\mathrm{A}}{1} \\ & \therefore \frac{\mathrm{w}_2}{\mathrm{w}_1}=\left(\frac{\mathrm{r}_2}{\mathrm{r}_1}\right)^2\left(\frac{\mathrm{l}_1}{\mathrm{l}_2}\right)=(2)^2(2)=8 \\ & \therefore \quad \mathrm{w}_2=8 \mathrm{w}_1=8 \times 2=16 \mathrm{~J}\end{aligned}$
