If the two lines l 1 : x - 2 3 = y + 1 - 2 , z = 2 and l 2 : x - 1 1 = 2 y + 3 α = z + 5 2 are…

If the two lines l1:x-23=y+1-2,z=2 and l2:x-11=2y+3α=z+52 are perpendicular, then an angle between the lines l2 and l3:1-x3=2y-1-4=z4 is
  1. cos-1294
  2. sec-1294
  3. cos-1229
  4. cos-1229

Solution

Given l1:x-23=y+1-2=z-20

l2:x-11=y+32α2=z+52

l3:x-1-3=y-12-2=z-04

Since l1 is perpendicular to l2, so 3-α+0131+α24+4=0α=3

Now for angle between l2 & l3,

cosθ=1×-3+(-2)α2+2×41+α24+49+4+16

cosθ=-3-α+85+α2429

Putting α=3

cosθ=229429=429

θ=cos-1429θ=sec-1294
