If the straight line 2x-3y+17=0 is perpendicular to the line passing through the points 7,17 and 15, β, then β equals :
  1. -5
  2. 353
  3. 5
  4. -353

Solution

Slope of line 2x-3y+17=0 is 23.

Slope of a line passing through 7,17 and 15,β is 17-β7-15.

Since, both lines are perpendicular to each other, so product of slopes will be -1.

17-β7-15×23=-1

17-β-8=-3217-β=12β=5.
