If the displacement of a particle at a point is given by $s=3 t^{2}-12 t+14$, then the displacement of the particle when its velocity becomes zero is
  1. 14 units
  2. 4 units
  3. 0 units
  4. 2 units

Solution

Given $\quad s \quad=3 t^{2}-12 t+14$ $v=\frac{d s}{d t}=6 t-12$ When $v=0$, we get $t=2$ $\therefore \mathrm{s}=(3 \times 4)-(12 \times 2)+14=12-24+14=2$ units
