If P,Q are two points on the curve y=2x+2 in the rectangular Cartesian coordinate system such that OP¯·i^=-1, OQ¯·i^=2 then OQ¯-4OP¯=
  1. 3i¯+8j¯
  2. 4i¯+6j¯
  3. 6i¯+8j¯
  4. 4i¯+3j¯

Solution

Given,

OP¯..i^=-1Px=-1

P lies on y=2x+2

y=2-1+2

y=2

So, Px,Py=-1,2

Now OQ¯·i^=2Qx=2

Also Q lies on y=2x+2

y=22+2

y=16

So, Qx,Qy=2,16

Now OQ¯=2i+16j

And OP¯=-i+2j

So, OQ¯-4OP¯=2i+16j+4i-8j=6i+8j
