If concentration of reactant ' $\mathrm{A}^{\prime}$ is increased by 10 times the rate of reaction becomes 100 times. What is the order of reaction if rate law is, rate $=\mathrm{k}[\mathrm{A}]^{\mathrm{x}}$ ?

Solution

$r=k[A]^{x}, \quad 100 r=k[10 A]^{x}$ $\therefore \frac{1}{100}=\left(\frac{1}{10}\right)^{x}$ $\therefore x=2$ The order of reaction $=2$
