If a straight line passing through the point P-3, 4 is such that its intercepted portion between the coordinate axes is bisected at P, then its equation is :
  1. 4x+3y=0
  2. 4x-3y+24=0
  3. 3x-4y+25=0
  4. x-y+7=0

Solution

Let the line passing through -3, 4 intersect the coordinate axes at A & B.

By mid-point formula, co-ordinates of Pα+02, 0+β2.

Comparing with given co-ordinate values, we get

α+02=-3α=-6

and β+ 02=4β=8

Hence, equation of line is x-6+y8=1

4x-3y+24=0
