If a source of electromagnetic radiation having power 15 kW produces 1016 photons per second, the radiation belongs to a part of spectrum is :

  2. Ultraviolet rays
  3. Gamma rays

Solution

As energy of one photon is given by E=PowerPhoton frequency

Or, E=hν=15×103 1016

So, frequency of ray is ν=15×10-136×10-34=2.5×1021 Hz.

Thus, the radiation belongs to gamma rays.
