If α denotes the number of solutions of 1 − i x = 2 x and β = z arg z , where z = π 4 1 + i 4 1 − π · i π +…

If α denotes the number of solutions of 1ix=2x and β=zargz, where z=π41+i41π·iπ+i+πi1+π·ii=1, then the distance of the point α, β from the line 4x3y=7 is ______

Solution

Given,

1ix=2x

2x=2x

x=0

Hence, the number of solutions will be one, so α=1

Now, solving

z=π41+i41π·iπ+i+πi1+π·i

z=π41+i4ππiiππ+1+πiπiπ1+π

z=π41+i42πi2iπ+1

z=πi21+i4

z=πi21+4i+6i2+4i3+1

z=2πi

So, argz=π2

β=zargz=2ππ2=4

Hence, the distance from α,β1, 4 to 4x3y=7 will be 4-3×4-742+32=155=3
