If A ( 4 , 7 ) ,   B ( - 7 , 8 ) and C ( 1 , 2 ) are the vertices of ∆ A B C , then the equation…

If A(4,7), B(-7,8) and C(1,2) are the vertices of ABC, then the equation of perpendicular bisector of the side AB is
  1. x11y24=0
  2. 11x+y+24=0
  3. 11xy+24=0
  4. 11x+y24=0

Solution

The slope of the side AB is 8-7-7-4=-111
Hence, the slope of the line which is perpendicular to AB is 1--111=11  (Say m)

Now, say, point D is the mid-point of the line AB,

Hence, the co ordinate of point D is -32, 152.
Now, the equation of perpendicular bisector will be the equation of the line which passes through point D and perpendicular to the line AB is

y-152=mx--32

y-152=11x--32

y-152=11x+32

11x-y+24=0
