Ammonia $\left(\mathrm{NH}_3\right)$ is a polar molecule with a permanent dipole due to the highly electronegative nitrogen atom. Benzene $\left(\mathrm{C}_6 \mathrm{H}_6\right)$ is a non-polar molecule. When ammonia is near benzene, the dipole of ammonia induces a temporary dipole in benzene, resulting in a dipole-induced dipole interaction. Hydrogen bonding does not occur because benzene lacks the necessary highly electronegative atom with a lone pair bonded to hydrogen.
