Identify the product formed when bauxite ore is treated with sodium hydroxide?

  2. Aluminium hydroxide

Solution

Aluminium oxide is converted to sodium metal aluminate and water when bauxite is treated with sodium hydroxide solution. The sodium aluminate obtained can be reduced to aluminium.
