Identify the incorrect statements among the following?
(i) SF6 does not react with water
(ii) SF6 is sp3d hybridized
(iii) S2O32- is a linear ion
(iv) There is no π-bonding in SO42- ion
  1. (ii), (iii) & (iv) only
  2. (i), (ii) & (iii) only
  3. (i) & (ii) only
  4. (iii) & (iv) only

Solution

We know that in SF6 is not easily hydrolysed because here S atom is surrounded by 6 F atom so it's complicated for H2O to attack at SF6 due to stearic hindrance.

The hybridisation of SF6 is sp3d2 due to six bond pairs and zero lone pair.

The molecular geometry of S2O32- is tetrahedral.

SO42- contains π bond in its structural formula.
