Identify the condensation product of the following reaction. $$ R-\mathrm{CHO}+\mathrm{NH}_2 \mathrm{OH} \longrightarrow $$
  1. $\mathrm{R}-\mathrm{CH}_2-\mathrm{NH}_2$
  2. $\mathrm{R}-\mathrm{CH}-\mathrm{NH}(\mathrm{OH})$
  3. $\mathrm{R}-\mathrm{C} \equiv \mathrm{N}$
  4. $\mathrm{R}-\mathrm{CH}=\mathrm{N}-\mathrm{OH}$

Solution

When acetaldehyde react with $\mathrm{NH}_2 \mathrm{OH}_{\text {, }}$ it will form acetaldoxime. As this reaction is a condensation reaction, a molecule of water is eliminated. Hydroxylamine is helpful in the formation of oxide.
