The electronic configuration of $\mathrm{Li}_2$ molecule is $(\sigma 1 \mathrm{~s})^2\left(\sigma^* 1 \mathrm{~s}\right)^2(\sigma 2 \mathrm{~s})^2$ Bond order of $\mathrm{Li}_2$ molecule $=\frac{\mathrm{N}_{\mathrm{b}}-\mathrm{N}_{\mathrm{a}}}{2}=\frac{4-2}{2}=1$
Since no unpaired electron is present in lithium molecule, it is diamagnetic.
