Identify compound X in the following sequence of reactions

Solution

Chlorination of an alkane involves substituting one of the hydrogen in the alkane with a chlorine atom. This is achieved by treating the alkane with chlorine in the presence of UV light. These conditions cause the chlorine molecule to split into chlorine free radicals.
In first step chlorination reaction takes place and then by following hydrolysis we get benzaldehyde.
