Areolar tissue is a loose connective tissue. It is composed of matrix (formed of glycoprotein and heteropolysaccharides). Fibres (white collagen fibres, yellow elastin fibres and reticulin fibre) and various types of cells (fibroblasts, macrophages, plasma cells and mast cells). Secretion by mast cells help in defence and quicker healing in place of injury.
