Statement I: In Lassaigne's test, the covalent organic molecules are transformed into ionic compounds.

Solution

Lassaigne's test is a general test for detection of halogen, nitrogen and sulphur in an organic compound. These elements covalently bonded to the organic compounds, In order to detect them, these have to converted into ionic forms.
