For the circuit shown below, the current through the Zener diode is

Solution

Current through $5 \mathrm{k\Omega }$,

$i_1=\frac{70}{5000}=14 \mathrm{mA}$

Current through $10 \mathrm{k\Omega }$,

$i_l=\frac{50}{10000}=5 \mathrm{mA}$

Current through the Zener diode, $I=9 \mathrm{mA}$
