For a solution of two liquids $A$ and $B$ it was proved that…
$\mathrm{P}_{\mathrm{S}}=\mathrm{x}_{\mathrm{A}}\left(\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{A}}^{\circ}-\mathrm{p}^{\circ} \mathrm{B}ight)+\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{B}}^{\circ} .$ The resulting solution will be
- Non -ideal
- ideal
- semi-ideal
- None of these
Solution
$\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{s}}=\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{A}}^{\mathrm{o}} \times \mathrm{x}_{\mathrm{A}}-\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{B}}^{\mathrm{o}} \times \mathrm{x}_{\mathrm{A}}+\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{B}}^{\mathrm{o}}$
$\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{s}}=\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{A}}^{\mathrm{o}} \times \mathrm{x}_{\mathrm{A}}-\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{B}}^{\mathrm{o}}\left(1-\mathrm{x}_{\mathrm{B}}ight)+\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{B}}^{\mathrm{o}}$
$\therefore \mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{s}}=\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{A}}^{\mathrm{o}} \times \mathrm{x}_{\mathrm{A}}+\mathrm{p}_{\mathrm{B}}^{\mathrm{o}} \times \mathrm{x}_{\mathrm{B}}$
This is condition for ideal solution
