Find the equation of the circle which passes through origin and cuts off the intercepts -2 and 3 over the x and y axes respectively.

Solution

Equation of circle = x2+y2+2gx+2fy+c=0 which passes through 0,0,-2,0,0,3

When it passes through 0,0, then c=0

When it passes through -2,0, then 4-4g=0g=1

When it passes through 0,3, then 9+6f=0f=-32

Hence, the required equation of circle is x2+y2+2x-3y=0.
