Explain how a normal human eye is able to see distinctly the object placed at a distance as well as those placed at a nearer distance. What is the far point and near point of a normal human eye?

Solution

To see a near object, the focal length of the eye should be small and vice versa. The focal length of the eye lens can be adjusted by ciliary muscles. When one see near object, ciliary muscles decreases the focal length and for distant object, ciliary muscles increases the focal length. Far point — Infinity. Near point — 25 cm from the eye.
