Double fertilization is a characteristic feature exhibited by angiosperms. It involves syngamy and triple fusion. There are two male gametes, out of which one fuses with the egg nucleus (n + n) during syngamy. During triple fusion, the other male gamete fuses with the polar nuclei and forms triploid (3n) Primary Endosperm Nucleus (PEN).
