Domain of the real valued function $f(x)=\frac{x+2}{9-x^{2}}$ is

Domain of the real valued function $f(x)=\frac{x+2}{9-x^{2}}$ is
  1. $-3 \leq x \leq 3$
  2. $R-\{-3,3\}$
  3. $R$
  4. $R-\{3\}$

Solution

$f(x)=\frac{x+2}{9-x^{2}}$ is not defined if $9-x^{2}=0 \Rightarrow x=\pm 3$ $\therefore$ Required domain $=\mathrm{R}-\{\pm 3\}$
