Consider the following lists: List- I List- II I x ∈ - 2 π 3 , 2 π 3 : cos x + sin x = 1 P…

Consider the following lists:

  List-I   List-II
I x-2π3,2π3:cosx+sinx=1 P has two elements
II x-5π18,5π18:3tan3x=1 Q has three elements
III x-6π5,6π5:2cos2x=3 R has four elements
IV x-7π4,7π4:sinx-cosx=1 S has five elements
    T has six elements

The correct option is:

  1. IP;IIS;IIIP;IVS
  2. IP;IIP;IIIT;IVR
  3. IQ;IIP;IIIT;IVS
  4. IQ;IIS;IIIP;IVR

Solution

Solving all questions one by one we get,

(i) x-2π3,2π3,cosx+sinx=1

cosx+sinx=1

sinπ4+x=12

π4+x=nπ+-1nπ4

x=nπ+-1nπ4-π4

So, x0,π2

  x has 2 elements.P

(ii)  x-5π18,5π18:3tan3x=1

Solving 3tan3x=1

tan3x=13

3x=nπ+π6

x=nπ3+π18

So, xπ18,-5π18

  x has 2 elements.    P

(iii) x-6π5,6π5:2cos2x=3

2cos2x=3

cos2x=32

2x=2nπ±π6

x=nπ±π12

So, x±π12,π±π12,-π±π12

  x has 6 elements.T

(iv) x-7π4,7π4:sinx-cosx=1

sinx-cosx=1

sinx-π4=12

x-π4=nπ+-1nπ4

x=nπ+-1nπ4+π4

So, xπ2,-3π2,π,-π

  x has 4 elements.     R

 option B is correct.
