These cells are polygonal and cuboidal in nature and appear square-shaped in side view. The nucleus is centrally located and rounded. They are found in the lining of many ducts, PCT, DCT and collecting tubules of kidneys when they are non-sensory. They are also present in salivary, sweat and thyroid gland and are secretory in function.
