Blue colour of the sky is due to

Blue colour of the sky is due to
  1. reflection of light
  2. refraction of light
  3. diffraction of light
  4. scattering of light

Solution

Blue colour of the sky is due to scattering of light. Scattering $\propto \frac{1}{\lambda^4}$ and $\lambda$ is least for blue colour among the fundamental colour red, green and blue. So blue colour of light scattered the most. Therefore sky appear blue.
