Assertion (A) : Energy per unit volume and angular momentum can be added dimensionally.

Reason (R) : Physical quantities having same dimensions can be added or subtracted.

  1. Both (A)  and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A)
  2. Both (A) and (R) are true but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A)
  3. (A) is true but (R) is false
  4. (A) is false but (R) is true

Solution

The unit of energy per unit volume is,

Jm3=J m-3 means, kg m-1 s-2 and the unit of angular momentum, mvr=kg m2 s-1 are not same so they can not be added, so we can say that same unit quantities can be added and subtracted and same unit quantities have same dimension.
