An object undergoing simple harmonic motion takes 0.5 s to travel from one point of zero velocity to the next such point. The angular frequency of the motion is,

  2. 2π rad s-1
  3. 3π rad s-1
  4. π2 rad s-1

Solution

If displacement of particle undergoing SHM is given by,

x=Asinωt, then velocity of the particle will be given by, v=Aωcosωt.

From the graph, we can see, at point A and B velocity of the particle will be zero. Clearly, time taken is half of time period, which is T2.

Therefore, 

T2=0.5T=1 s

Now, angular frequency will be, ω=2πT=2π rad s-1
