An object is placed at a distance of 10 cm from a convex mirror of focal length 15 cm. Find the position of the image formed by the mirror.

Solution

u = - 10cm; f = +15 cm $\dfrac{1}{f}$ = $\dfrac{1}{v}$ + $\dfrac{1}{u}$ 1/15 = $\dfrac{1}{v}$ + 1/(-10 cm) $\dfrac{1}{v}$ = 1/15 cm + 1/10 cm v = + 6 cm Image is formed behind the mirror.
