An object is dropped from a height h from the ground. Every time it hits the ground it loses 50% of its kinetic energy. The total distance covered as t is:
  1. 3h
  2. 53h
  3. 83h

Solution

Since the object is dropped from height, thus its potential energy is equal to its kinetic energy.

As per question, kinetic energy after hitting the ground is 12mv2=12×12 mv2

v=v2

v=eu

e=12

H=h1+e21-e2

The total distance covered=h1+121-12=3h
