An ideal gas undergoes a four step cycle as shown in the P-V diagram below. During this cycle, heat is absorbed by the gas in:
  1. steps 1 and 2
  2. steps 1 and 3
  3. steps 1 and 4
  4. steps 2 and 4

In Step 1:

P=constant

V= increasing

So,

T also will be increase (From equation 1)

Now, 

  Q=nCpT

  T= Positive

So,

Now In step 4,

V= constant

So from equation 1,

T will also be increasing.

Now,   Q=nCvT

 T

  T=Positive

So, 

Q=+ve=absorbed
