According to Raoult's law, the relative lowering of vapour pressure for a solution containing a nonvolatile solute is proportional to the mole fraction of the solute. The law states: $\frac{\Delta P}{P_0}=\chi_{\text {solute }}$ Where: - $\Delta P$ is the lowering of vapour pressure, - $P_0$ is the vapour pressure of the pure solvent, - $\chi_{\text {solute }}$ is the mole fraction of the solute.
