$\mathrm{BiCl}_{3}+\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O} ightarrow \mathrm{BiOCl}+2 \mathrm{HCl} \cdot \mathrm{BiOCl}$
gives white ppt. which is used as white
pigment, under the name of pearl white.
