(a) We need to water the soil in plants on a regular basis. But it ultimately reaches the leaves of the plant. Explain how this takes place.

Solution

(a) When water is lost through stomata in the leaves by transpiration, it creates a suction force/transpiration pull. Due to which water is pulled up through xylem of the roots to the leaves.
