A sinusoidal voltage V t = 210 sin 3000 t volt is applied to a series LCR circuit in which L = 10   mH …

A sinusoidal voltage Vt=210sin3000t volt is applied to a series LCR circuit in which L=10 mH,C=25 μF and R=100Ω. The phase difference Φ between the applied voltage and resultant current will be
  1. tan-10.17
  2. tan-19.46
  3. tan-10.30
  4. tan-113.33

Solution

Capacitive reactance is XC=1ωC=13000×25×10-6=403Ω

Inductive reactance is XL=ωL=3000×10×10-3=30Ω

Now, total reactance is X=XL-XC

=30-403=503Ω

tanϕ=XR=503100=16

tanϕ=16=0.17

Hence, the phase difference between the applied voltage and resultant current is tan-10.17.
