A ray of unpolarised light is incident on the glass surface of refractive index $1 \cdot 73$ at polarizing angle. The angle of refraction will be [Take $\left.\tan 60^{\circ}=1 \cdot 73\right]$
  1. $45^{\circ} .$
  2. $15^{\circ} .$
  3. $35^{\circ} .$
  4. $30^{\circ} .$

Solution

$\therefore 1.73=\tan i$ $\quad \therefore i=60^{\circ}$ $\mu=\tan i_{p}$ $\therefore r=30^{\circ}$ $i+r=90^{\circ} \therefore$
